Big news is............at last the rig is up and we are sailing !
Actually this all happened in November and we've been too busy doing it to write about it !
The stayed Balestron Rig is just awesome. Very efficient and easy to sail. Tacking and gybing is totally effortless which really astounds experienced yachties !
You just get the crew to cross their arms and you turn the wheel !
Vagabond will sail in a 5 knot breeze, top speed so far is 15 knots but still more to come as we become more confident.
Anything aft of the beam is just a dream, and square rigged we can beat yachts running kites and sailing hot angles, cos they just can't go as deep.
On the wind the trick is to try and slow her down and stay high, we tack through 90o apparent.
But don't take my word, come and try for yourself !
